On 18 June, 2020, The Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference in response to a media question on whether it would consider temporarily suspending the import of meat, fish, seafood and other food and agricultural products transported in the cold chain from countries with severe epidemics.Spokesman Gao Feng said increasing imports of food and agricultural products is an important part of China's proactive import policy.The imported food and agricultural products shall comply with the relevant Inspection and quarantine regulations of China.Gao said the Ministry of Commerce will work with relevant departments to strengthen communication and coordination with relevant countries to control the quality and safety of imported food and agricultural products from the source and ensure the health and safety of Chinese consumers.
