Datetime:2021-07-21

Vietnam Plus reports that a new outbreak of COVID-19 has occurred in Vietnam, which has had a severe impact on exports and tourism. Ho Chi Minh City has been under lockdown for two weeks since July 9. Seafood exporters are responding by looking to local markets.

In recent months, Vietnam's largest shrimp company, Minh Phu Seafood Group, which previously focused on exports, has advertised its products on social media to appeal to local consumers.

Pacific Foods JSC, a Vietnamese fish sauce exporter that was focused on the US market for more than a decade, has launched an E-commerce platform to market locally in Vietnam.

According to Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Tourism, with a population of nearly 100 million, Vietnam's domestic market is large enough for seafood exporters to overcome various challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Governament departments have launched campaigns to support business and stimulate consumption and retail sales.
